GURPs - Basically the "go to" for all of your weird genre needs, between the alternate history books and the steampunk books release, I'd say GURPs is a really good bet. Plus rules are already in place for vehicles and guns. But there are plenty of splat books that you could work around that. I don't know a lot about it, but I imagine that it's pretty close to the right setting and with some creative liberties you could get pretty far with it.ĭ20 Modern - The base rules for d20 Modern kinda suck, especially for character classes. Weird Wars - Set during WWII, this is a horror/fantasy game that uses the d20 system. I really enjoy Iron Kingdoms - it's a lot of fun, though my group prefers to play Eberron. Iron Kingdoms - Ok, so this is basically a steampunk version of D&D but you could steal some elements from d20 modern and glue them onto Iron Kingdoms and create a bit more modern game. I figured somewhere between them is probably something close to Dieselpunk. Ex Machina is cyberpunk while Etherscope is steampunk. They can both be played using the d20 Modern system and both have sort of several settings you can choose from. It's been expanded and is now a setting that spans several play systems including d20, GURPs, and Savage Worlds. This means you could easily shift some stats around or modify the setting pretty easily to get more of a dieselpunk feel.ĭeadlands - This is a western horror mashup and is actually pretty fun.
Spirit of the Century - This is set more or less in the 1920s pulp era, but it's a bit more free form in its setting and uses the Fate system.
Short of a Mad Max RPG, I think I've found a few you might be interested in. Dieselpunk is pretty tough to pin down, mostly because it's in that we're soft spot between 1920s gangsters and turn of the century steampunk and modern day genres.
